BABT is one of the first TCB's to offer SAR certification for devices subject to SAR evaluation under a new exclusion list

BABT is pleased to announce that it is one of the first Telecommunication Certification Bodies (TCBs) to be able to offer Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) certification with a new exclusion list published by the FCC on the 17th July 2002.

This comes as a result of BABT participating in the general RF exposure training in April 2002, run by the FCC.

A main category of products that benefit from the new TCB exclusion list are Radio LAN devices such as Bluetoothtm & 802.11 devices

Part 22 & 24 are not affected as BABT can already certify these. Push-to-talk radios are also liberalised as TCBs can take a more practical evaluation of the users exposure to radio frequency energy. This new development allows BABT to handle more equipment directly and also enables them to offer suppliers a quicker route to US approval via their TCB services, as suppliers no longer need to present results to the FCC. It also simplifies the test configuration for SAR certification.
