Accreditations & Appointments

TÜV SÜD BABT has the broadest range of appointments and accreditations of any International Telecommunications Certification Body, and is assessed annually by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to demonstrate the quality and robustness of its internal processes, thus guaranteeing the excellence and consistency of its service to customers. The following appointments demonstrate the global reach of TÜV SÜD BABT’s service:

Appointments

By the DBIS (Department for Business, Innovation and Science) as:

  1. Notified Body for all annexes of the R&TTE Directive (99/5/EC)
  2. Notified Body under the EMC Directive
  3. Notified under the Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
  4. Telecoms Certification Body / Conformity Assessment Body under the EU-US Mutual Recognition Agreement

By the European Commission as a Conformity Assessment Body.

  1. EU-Canada MRA
  2. EU-Australia MRA
  3. EU-New Zealand MRA
  4. EU-Japan MRS

By Ofcom as an Approved Body under the Ofcom Metering & Billing Direction, July 2008.

By the GSM Association as IMEI Number Allocation Body

In addition to being supported by these appointments, TÜV SÜD BABT’s services are accredited and audited annually by UKAS against ISO 17021 and EN 45011 for the following scope, ensuring the quality and consistency of service in providing management system certification to ISO 9001- and for a number of proprietary product certification schemes:

UKAS Accredited Certification Body No.172 to ISO 17021 to provide quality systems certification to  ISO 9001- Certificate Annex:

  1. EA 18 Machinery and equipment - excludes manufacture of weapons and ammunition
  2. EA 19 Electrical and optical equipment
  3. EA 31 Transport, storage and communication - communications equipment
  4. EA 33 Information Technology

UKAS Accredited Certification Body No.172 to EN 45011 to provide product certification Certificate Annex:

    1. Telecommunications Terminal Equipment for connection to ISDN interfaces, Digital Private Circuits based upon recommendation G.703, the Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) 900/1800 and analogue interfaces of the public switched telephone network
    2. Telecommunications Total Metering and Billing Systems (TMBS) under OTR 003:1993, now the Oftel Metering and Billing Direction, July 2003
