CNC - Certified for Network Connection
The TÜV SÜD BABT Certified for Network Connection (CNC) scheme which has been operable since April 8th 2000 provides Telecoms and Radio Equipment manufacturers with a service which will supply them with:
- third party certification against recognised international standards for use outside the EU
- third party certification backed up by continuing manufacturing compliance to give confidence to Network Operators and product distributors
- independent product verification
- free use of the TÜV SÜD BABT Approved Mark
The scheme operates on a global basis with certificates available over the TÜV SÜD BABT web site, and potential coverage anywhere in the world. To achieve CNC certification the product must meet a common set of criteria for that interface type which are normally expressed in broad terms. While TÜV SÜD BABT will certify against national or procurement standards provided they include coverage of these requirements, TÜV SÜD BABT's principle intention is to encourage the use of regional (e.g. ETSI) and global (e.g. ITU) standards to give the widest acceptance of the certificate.
TÜV SÜD BABT have developed specific guidance for PSTN, ISDN, GSM and G-703 interfaces, which were ready for 8th April 2000 and are developing others. However, TÜV SÜD BABT will be prepared to accept applications for other interface types and agree the required testing upon request.
